Local Area
Cariatiz is a small village near to the town of Sorbas. The local area has long been known in the film industry, principally for the desert-like landscape and unusal rock formations. Its proximity to Tabernas, where many of the Spaghetti Westerns were filmed, has attracted many film producers over the years. There is an underground cave system of spectacular beauty, which is open to visitors,  with world reknown among geologists for 'one of a kind' formations.  During the winter months there is a monthly Farmer's Market and the village is also host to a huge variety of artists and performers at one of the large cortijos in the village.
Caritiz is just a short drive from the National Park of the Cabo de Gato with its acres of unspoilt countryside and small fishing villages. Mojácar is approximately 20 minutes drive away with its 14 kilometres of unspoilt beaches and the historic White Village of Mojácar perched on the hillside.
Situated less than an hours drive from Almeria international airport and 2.5 to 3 hour drive to the airports of Murcia and Alicante, Cariatiz has excellent motorway access.
