Local Area.
Los Terreros, as it is known locally, is very popular because of the safe bathing in the bay and the white sandy beaches. There is a castle on the left of the bay and some good walks in the area. As usual, for this coastline, you can also find great seafood cuisine, the local tapas are exceptional. There is an exit here on the new toll motorway with easy access to Murcia and Alicante airports which are about an hour and an hour and a half’s drive away respectively.
The coastline in this area is a mixture of sandy beaches and rocky bays. The remains of the old mining towers and railways can be seen if you follow the coast road south towards Villaricos, an ancient fishing village with 2 marinas and a harbour. Driving north you come to the town of Aquilas which boasts one the best Carnivals in the area early on in the year. Here too there is a castle to explore and various picturesque walks. Their is also a superb esplanade with views of the marina, harbour and beaches.
